Twin Peaks: Did Hawk find Laura Palmer’s diary?

Toward the end of Twin Peaks, Hawk found several handwritten pages hidden in a bathroom door. Are they the missing pages of Laura Palmer’s diary?

Twin Peaks’ slow pace may be off-putting for some, but it’s essential for the type of story David Lynch and company are trying to tell. After all, mysteries are supposed to take time to solve, and the viewers have to solve it along with the characters. And if it’s taken them 25 years to crack the case, why not make the viewers wait a little longer?

Last episode, however, took some major strides toward advancing the plot. After Agent Cooper saw a vision from Mike, he immediately started drawing. He also knew he was a cop in a past life when he kept going for the officer’s badge. The Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Department also came closer to learning what happened to Cooper when Hawk discovered a bunch of hand-written pages in a bathroom stall.

The popular theory is that they’re the missing pages of Laura Palmer’s diary. Fire Walk with Me, despite being a prequel, had one scene that proved time is a flat circle. Annie appeared in Laura’s room, telling her that “the good Dale is in the Lodge and can’t leave. Write it in your diary.”

If that’s what Hawk found, he’ll have figured out where Cooper has been for the last 25 years. He’ll also know that the Cooper that Gordon and Albert found is evil and will try to kill him. However, that’s much easier said than done.

We’ll find out in due time what those pages entail. But it would be a tremendous callback if he actually found something written by Laura Palmer. Not only would it help track down Agent Cooper, it’ll reveal more about the troubled student whose death shook the town to its core.

A big part of why Cooper isn’t acting like himself is because he’s in an unfamiliar setting living someone else’s life — he’s like a fish out of water. If he’s surrounded by his old friends at the Sheriff’s Department, it could go a long way towards rediscovering the old Coop.
