OG Anunoby

SF/PF, Indiana

If the Miami Heat are looking to put together an offense with any sort of floor spacing, then locking up Indiana’s OG Anunoby at No. 14 is not the way to go. The 6-foot-8 combo forward could form a terrifyingly bad jump shooting frontline alongside Justise Winslow and Hassan Whiteside should he come off the board here. While Anunoby’s college 3-point percentage was solid, he took just 74 attempts in college. He also shot a miserable 52.2 percent from the foul line. Basically, for all of the hubbub surrounding Josh Jackson’s poor 3-point shooting, Anunoby’s is probably worse. The Indiana product also doesn’t bring much in the way of playmaking ability on offense despite shooting 65.2 percent on 2s over his two year career.

Anunoby, though, is still a worthwhile lottery for someone because of his defensive potential. He has a 7-foot-2 wingspan and thick frame that should allow him to reasonably guard nearly every position at the next level. He’s the type of player you could imagine playing center deep in the playoffs with the way that the game is going. That means a lot. It just should mean a little less for Miami given their current makeup.
