With the No. 23 overall selection in the 2017 NBA Draft, GM Masai Ujiri and the Toronto Raptors selected Indiana’s OG Anunoby.

What a name for the new Raptor. OG Anunoby, the star out of Indiana is the draft pick for GM Masai Ujiri and the Toronto Raptors in the first round. Although he underwent season-ending surgery on his right knee, Anunoby’s talent and potential still warranted a first-round pick. He is expected be a full go in a few months, so he should be ready for the season.

Anunoby is going to invaluable on the defensive end for the Toronto Raptors. He can guard all the different positions and his versatility on that end is key. Athleticism and wingspan is the key to Anunoby’s defense.

His offensive game on the other end is a big question mark. His 3-point shooting — or lack thereof — will be the biggest concern for the Indiana forward. He shot 36.5 percent from beyond the arc, but on a low volume of attempts that may mean he’s not quite that consistent. His jump shot is still a major question mark and something that will need to develop at the next level.

He was the No. 10 player on The Step Back’s Big Board, so for Toronto to get Anunoby at No. 23 is definitely a steal. There are health concerns for sure, but if he can play this season and contribute on the defensive end, that’ll be huge for the Raptors.

The Toronto Raptors had their first-round pick used for the Indiana star, OG Anunoby. Fantastic name forsure, but he’ll need to work on his offensive game, in order for the Raptors to consistently play him. We see teams give Andre Roberson and Tony Allen the wide-open shot. Anunoby will need to knock those down in the NBA.
