Emilia Clarke really getting into character for Game of Thrones season 8, dyes hair blonde
Emilia Clarke doesn’t generally resemble the Mother of Dragons in terms of hair color, but she will for at least a while now.
Does the long wait for Game of Thrones season 8 have you down? Maybe you can take heart from the fact that the show is gearing up for production again, and one of its biggest stars is getting into character in a very direct and obvious way.
As reported by our sister site, Winter is Coming, Emilia Clarke has dyed her hair platinum blonde to look the way it does when she’s portraying Daenerys Targaryen.
She shared the news and a pic with fans on Instagram:
AAAAHHHHHHH SHHHHIIIII****** 🤢 I done did it. Mother of dragons meet Emilia. Emilia meet mother of dragons. If you squint just so you might never know. 🐉⚡️ All hail to the magnificence of @kevalexanderhair and @candicebanks74 the genius creators of ‘KHALEESI WIG’ (and not forgetting all the hair on game of thrones for 8 glorious years) for at long last making this magical moment a reality. 🙌🔥❤️🏆💃😎👌 #khaleesikicksoff #gameofthrones #cominghomeneverfeltsogood
Why is this news? Mostly because Clarke has typically worn a wig whenever Game of Thrones is in season, so physically transforming herself to look more like Daenerys is a big step for her. WiC also notes that it might actually be easier for the behind the scenes folks on the series to do some of the character’s many hairstyles with a wig than Clarke’s actual hair, but because they are some of the best in the biz, one expects she’ll be looking as amazing as ever either way.
No release date has been announced yet for Game of Thrones season 8, as is customary with HBO shows, but it’s not expected until either late 2018 or 2019.
