Packers wide receiver Davante Adams was knocked out cold against the Bears, and yes, this was the dirtiest hit of the season.

We all know by now that the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears have maybe the most bitter rivalry in the history of the NFL. We also know that sometimes, when it comes to rivalries on the football field, tempers can flare and things can get out of hand. Unfortunately, on Thursday night, wide receiver Davante Adams suffered a brutal injury because things got a little out of hand as the Packers were waxing the Bears on Thursday Night Football.

In the third quarter of this one as the Packers were heading in for yet another touchdown, Adams caught a pass over the middle and he was stopped by a host of Bears defenders. More or less, the play was just about done as Adams was helpless at this point. However, Danny Trevathan of the Bears really — and stupidly — let his emotions get the best of him.

From there, he would come in like a dang missile, nailing Adams right in the face with the crown of his helmet, knocking the Packers wideout out cold. And as if you couldn’t tell the hit was vicious in the first place, you really get the point when you see Adams’ mouthpiece fly from his face and onto the turf in Green Bay.

Plain and simple, no other way around it, this was straight up garbage and this has no business in the game of football at any level. No matter how much your emotions are getting to you, you don’t intentionally try to injure another player in this manner. And that’s all this was — Trevathan trying to inflict some serious harm to Adams.

The stretcher came out to take Adams to the locker room, and if there was one positive note, the CBS cameras showed him giving a thumbs up to the crowd as he was leaving.

Surprisingly, Trevathan was not ejected from the game, but you can bet that his pockets will be a little lighter this week.
