This team is loaded with young talent that will only get better

Golden didn’t exactly leave the cupboard bare for Richt, and his coaching prowess coupled with a stacked roster could lead the Hurricanes to the College Football Playoff.

While the Hurricanes finished a good-not-great 9-4 in 2016, Richt’s debut campaign has to be considered a success thanks to all the young talent that emerged on the roster. Running back Mark Walton was arguably the most encouraging piece with over 1,100 yards as a sophomore, and has 427 yards on just 56 carries this season despite a pedestrian effort against the Seminoles.

Wide receiver Ahmmon Richards emerged as one of the best big-play threats in the nation with nearly 1,000 yards as a true freshman and has shown no signs of slowing down over the past two games after missing Miami’s first two games with a hamstring problem. Sophomore all-purpose back TravisHomer also looks like a dymanic playmaking threat, giving Miami a deep offense with the upside to become even better.

As great as the offense looks, Miami’s defense might be even more promising. The Hurricanes returned most of one of the most disruptive front sevens in college football. and sophomore linebacker Shaquille Quarterman is developing into the type of defender that can single-handily ruin a gameplan.

Miami has exactly the right coach to guide that young talent while supplementing the roster with excellent recruiting classes, giving the Hurricanes a chance at competing for the ACC title both now and in the future.
