UFC 218 in Detroit is already a pretty stacked card but it continues to grow. Al Iaquinta will face Paul Felder in what is a potential war.
Other than UFC 217 in November, UFC 218 is shaping up to be one of the best cards of the year. In the main event, Max Holloway will look to defend his featherweight title for the first time against Frankie Edgar. Other fights include Alistair Overeem vs. Francis Ngannou and Eddie Alvarez vs. Justin Gaethje. It’s looking great so far and now it just got much better. MMA Fighting reports that a lightweight bout between Al Iaquinta and Paul Felder has been added to the card.
With his recent problems with the UFC, we were unsure whether or not Iaquinta would ever return to the octagon. Thankfully, it seems he’ll continue to fight on. With the exciting fighting style he has, he’s a true crowd pleaser. In his last time out, he faced Diego Sanchez and finished him in the first round. He’ll be looking to do the same against Felder, which is no easy task.
Felder is constantly improving and he always shows up to fight. He first burst onto the scene when he knocked out Danny Castillo with a devastating spinning back fist. He went on to lose a very close fight with Edson Barboza, but is currently on a two-fight win streak. His last victory over Stevie Ray was the best performance of his career, by far. A win over Iaquinta would shoot him up the rankings.
Other than the big name fights, there are other exciting bouts. Some include Henry Cejudo vs. Sergio Pettis, Drakkar Klose vs. David Teymur, and Felice Herrig vs. Cortney Casey. This is a can’t-miss event and may be one of the best fight cards of the year.
UFC 218 goes down on Dec. 2, 2017 at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
