ALCS to the Yankees: Sabathia is Money

If Houston’s best shot at avoiding elimination was in the 2017 ALCS was throwing veteran Justin Verlander at the Yankees, then New York’s best shot at closing it out is by countering in Game 7 with veteran C.C. Sabathia.

More from MLB Postseason

While he may have had a few hiccups in the postseason, on the whole Sabathia is a pretty safe bet, and almost always gives his team a shot to win the game. With a 10-5 lifetime postseason record, and a 2.07 ERA in 14 postseason series, Yankees manager Joe Girardi has to feel pretty comfortable going with the 37-year-old lefty.

Six strong innings, that’s all the Yankees need from Sabathia to all but lock up a victory, and history says the 2009 ALCS MVP can provide that and maybe more to propel New York back to the Fall Classic.

If you have a pressure situation, rely on the veterans, especially on the mound.
