The Oklahoma City Thunder opened their season with a bang on Thursday night. Specifically, the new Thunder “Big 3” was electric in the win over the New York Knicks. Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony combined to score 71 points, while displaying solid chemistry with each other. The Thunder displayed a potent offensive attack coupled with improved team defense.

Oklahoma City faces a Western Conference foe that also features a revamped roster on Sunday night. The Minnesota Timberwolves added veterans Jimmy Butler, Jeff Teague, Taj Gibson and Jamal Crawford to complement their talented young stars. The Timberwolves came up short against the Spurs in their season opener on Oct. 18. Now, Minnesota has another stiff road test as they look to capture their first win.

Minnesota has playoff aspirations, hence the benefit of these early season tests. Oklahoma City is a team some believe can push the Golden State Warriors. Therefore, the Timberwolves will know where they stand in the pecking order. Ultimately, this matchup could be a playoff preview of sorts. It will feature an immense amount of All-Star caliber talent.
