The full cast for Disney and Jon Favreau’s remake of The Lion King has been confirmed. It’s extremely versatile and full of talent.
Usually, we aren’t the biggest fans of modern remakes of classics. The majority of the time, most of them don’t work. Still, we would be lying if we said that as of late, some of them have been terrific. For example, there’s the Stephen King adaptation, IT, which is one of the greatest horror films of the year. When it comes to Disney, it has done a pretty good job with Cinderella, The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast. Up next is The Lion King. The original animated movie is one of the greatest movies of all time, so we’re hoping it’s just as good. As far as the cast goes, it’s fantastic.
And that full cast is now official. We already knew some of the actors who would be lending their voices to these iconic roles. There was also speculation as to who would play who. Now, we don’t have to worry about that anymore.
Some cast members we already knew about include Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, and John Oliver as Scar. However, there were some that were still up in the air. Earlier this year, there were rumors of Beyonce voicing Nala, but those rumors were never confirmed. We loved this idea and we’re glad it’s now a reality.

By far, what excites us most about this movie is Jon Favreau as the director. He has our complete trust, especially after seeing what he did with The Jungle Book. Seeing that, we’re sure it’s the main reason as to why Disney asked him to return for this project.
We aren’t sure it’ll be nearly as good as the classic, but we’re hoping it’s something new and has shades of the original.
The Lion King releases on July 19, 2019.
