The City of Houston is planning a massive celebration to commemorate the Houston Astros’ first ever 2017 World Series victory. Let’s talk about the parade!

The Houston Astros will have a hero’s welcome as the people of Houston celebrate their World Series victory with a parade on Friday, Nov. 3. Mayor Sylvester Turner announced details about the big celebration immediately following the Astros’ big 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 7 of the 2017 World Series.

It has been a long time coming, but the 2017 Houston Astros team did something that hasn’t been done in the franchise’s 56 years: Win a World Series. The now World Champion Astros were a beacon of hope to their city after the region was hit hard by Hurricane Harvey. The team wore patches on their uniforms to celebrate their hometown and the players dedicated their big win to the city they play for.

Now it’s time for the city to show the Astros how much the team means to them with a big celebration.

Mayor Turner called for all Astros fans to join him at the Houston Astros World Championship Parade and Celebration. “It’s a true privilege to proudly host this magnificent salute to our hometown team that has earned history. As we bounce back from Hurricane Harvey, we are more than ready to welcome our heroes home in proper form,” Turner said in a press release.

The event takes place on Friday, Nov. 3 and starts at 2 p.m. Central/3 p.m. Eastern. The parade will travel down Lamar Street and will end with a big celebration at City Hall.
