Bellator 269 marks the return of an MMA legend, as heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko returns to the cage against top heavyweight contender Tim Johnson in front of the Moscow, RU faithful.
The 45-year-old Emelianenko last competed at Bellator 237, in a knockout loss to Rampage Jackson. Before that, he had won two of his previous three fights including knockout wins over Chael Sonnen and Frank Mir.
Emelianenko will face Johnson, who just recently lost in an interim title bout against Valentin Moldavsky. He had won three fights in a row before the interim title loss, defeating top contenders Tyrell Fortune, Matt Mitrione, and Cheick Kongo.
The Bellator 269 event will also mark the first time the promotion has held an event in Russia, after a long existence.
Aside from Emelianenko vs. Johnson, there are plenty of other Russian-based prospects to watch on the card. The undefeated Usman Nurmagomedov returns to the cage against Patrik Pietilla, while the 29-2 Anatoly Tokov aims to prove he’s a legitimate force to be reckoned with in the middleweight division against Sharaf Davlatmurodov.
The prelims will feature a matchup between flyweight up-and-comers Irina Alekseeva and Stephanie Ielo Page, and the return of SBG Ireland’s Brian Moore fresh off his win at Bellator 263 earlier this year.
