It’s about to be Week 10 of the 2017 NFL season. Which teams are on their byes this week? Who needs a bye the most? Let’s find out.

We’ve made it past the halfway point in the 2017 NFL season. Though not quite the home stretch, we are well into the third quarter of the season. It will be Week 10 this weekend across the league. There will be 14 games on the slate this week meaning four teams will be on their annual byes. So which four teams aren’t playing in Week 10?

The four teams on bye this week are the Baltimore Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Oakland Raiders and the Philadelphia Eagles. Baltimore and Kansas City will enter their byes coming off a loss. Oakland and Philadelphia were victorious in their final game before going on bye.

So who does a bye help the most and who could have used it at another time? Baltimore and Kansas City will want to correct some things this upcoming week. The Ravens have been sound defensively all year, but have lacked dynamism on offense from the jump. It’s unlikely the Ravens will have their offense humming coming out of their bye.

Kansas City’s issues of late have been predominantly on defense. Losing its best defensive player in safety Eric Berry in Week 1 versus the New England Patriots had a lingering effect. Though the offense was on fire out of the gate, it has fallen back to earth in the second quarter of the season. Kansas City can definitely regroup during the bye. The Chiefs’ last seven games are as daunting, but we might have seen the best ball out of Kansas City this season.

Oakland gets the most out of this bye. The Raiders get to go on bye with a win on Sunday Night Football over the Miami Dolphins. They will have two weeks to get ready for the Patriots, who they will play in Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. Positive vibes and a chance for that depleted secondary to get healthy makes the timing of this bye perfect for Oakland.

Sure, Philadelphia could use a week to get healthier. Football is a game of attrition. However, the Eagles are 8-1 on the season and don’t want to get out of routine in what looks to be a special year for Philadelphia football. Don’t expect the Eagles to fade post-bye, but you never know with a youthful team like this.
