Watford enter their game Saturday against Huddersfield in eighth place. However, the Hornets have struggled lately, losing their second straight game on Tuesday against Crystal Palace. Huddersfield are 12th in the Premier League table with 18 points, four points behind Watford.
With less than five minutes to play, Watford looked like they were going to defeat Crystal Palace. However, Tom Cleverley picked up his second yellow card and Palace scored in the 89th minute to equalize and three minutes later scored the winner in injury time. The loss was Watford’s second straight and third in their past four games. Watford have scored 26 goals, the eighth most in the Premier League. Richarlison and Abdoulaye Doucouré have both scored five goals this season. However, both players have struggled to find the back of the net lately for Watford. For as good as the Hornets have been offensively, they have been just as bad defensively. Marco Silva’s squad have conceded 29 goals, the third most this season.
On Tuesday, Huddersfield lost 3-1 to Chelsea. The loss was the Terriers fifth in their past six games. Huddersfield have also allowed 29 goals this season but do not have the same ability moving forward as Watford. The Terriers have scored only 12 goals this season, the second-fewest behind last place Swansea. Manager David Wagner will rely on Steve Mounié and Laurent Depoitre to break down Watford’s suspect defense.
