In the 19th game of the season, Stoke host West Brom at bet365 Stadium. As the season hits the halfway point, the Potters and the Baggies are in a relegation battle. Stoke are 17th, one point ahead of the bottom three, with 16 points. West Brom are 19th, two points behind Stoke and the survival zone.
In their last game, Stoke were humiliated, losing 3-0 to West Ham. The loss was Stoke’s fifth in their last six games. Over the six-game stretch, the Potters have been outscored 15-4. Mark Hughes team have struggled to defend all season. The Potters have allowed a Premier League worst 39 goals, six more than second-worst Watford. If Stoke continue to leak goals and drop points, Hughes four year tenure in charge of the Potters could come to an end. Offensively, Stoke are 10th, with 19 goals in their first 18 games. Xherdan Shaqiri and Mame Diouf lead the club with four goals apiece.
West Brom could not overcome two first-half goals from Manchester United in their last game. Gareth Barry scored in the 77th minute but the Baggies could not find a late goal to steal a point. Manager Alan Pardew is still looking for his first win in charge of the Baggies. West Brom have two points in their first four games under Pardew but the club has not won a game since Aug. 19. While the Baggies are middle of the pack defensively, allowing 24 goals, they are awful offensively. Only Swansea have scored fewer goals than West Brom’s 13 goals.
