Store Christmas Eve hours 2017: Is Walmart open?

Looking to do some last minute shopping? Fear not, because Walmart is open on Christmas Eve for all of your holiday shopping needs.

For some people, venturing out to shop on Christmas Eve is a holiday tradition while other people do it only because they forgot something. No matter your reasons for heading out on Christmas Eve, Walmart will be open on Christmas Eve for whatever you need.

Walmart locations across the nation will be open at their normal opening times on Christmas Eve, but stores are scheduled to close at 6pm on Christmas Eve so that employees can go home and celebrate the holiday with their families. Stores will be closed on Christmas Day as well.

Walmart only closes one day each year and that’s on Christmas. Employees have to work on Thanksgiving Day with early Black Friday sales already, so having extra time on Christmas Eve to celebrate ahead of the day off is always helpful and appreciated.

Shoppers will still be able to take advantage of holiday sales on Christmas Eve, and many will be happy to find even more discounts given that a great deal of holiday themed merchandise and gift sets are already marked down to clearance prices. Many stores, like Walmart, start slashing prices early to avoid the after Christmas shopping rush. This is a major boon to stores who wish to take advantage of shoppers who received giftcards for Christmas and want to start spending immediately following the holiday. Somehow, most traces of the holidays manage to disappear overnight so that by the time the stores reopen on the 26th, most of the holiday decor is gone.

Stores will return to normal business hours on Tuesday, December 26, with some stores opening earlier if they are locations that normally operate 24 hours. The best way to confirm each store’s individual hours would be to call ahead and ask, since hours vary by location.
