Sometimes Santa forgets to bring batteries or you need some whipped cream for the dessert. In either case, Walgreens has you covered on Christmas Day.

These days we’re used to everything being open all the time, but on Christmas Day you’ll discover that most grocery stores along with major retailers like Walmart and Target are closed. Thankfully, Walgreens has you covered.

Most Walgreens locations are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The only exception to that are stores located within malls that have their own mall hours, or locations that are not 24 hour locations. The vast majority of stores, however, will be open for your shopping needs on Christmas Day.

It’s important to note here that Walgreens pharmacies might not be open the entire day, if at all. Pharmacy hours are set by the pharmacy staff, so if you find yourself needing to fill a prescription on Christmas Day, be sure to call ahead. Also keep in mind that your doctor’s office will likely be closed on Christmas Day so filling prescriptions can be a challenge.

Walgreens is a great option when everything else is closed because they carry a little bit of everything. For Christmas needs, you’ll find everything from wrapping paper to tape to gift sets, with a wide variety of last minute items for unexpected guests or forgotten cousins that will appeal to everyone. They also have a large selection of gift cards if you’re in a pinch. In addition to holiday merchandise they also offer groceries, toiletries and over the counter medications. And if the kids’ toys need batteries, Walgreens is the place to go to avoid Christmas morning meltdowns.

Be sure to call ahead to your nearest Walgreens location to confirm store hours, especially if you’re traveling and aren’t sure about the nearest location.
