18. Newcastle: Provide a January budget

Rafa Benitez is too astute a manager to preside over a team in the bottom three. It’s up to the Magpies to give him the budget he needs to upgrade his squad during the January transfer window.

The manager has made no secret of his desire for funds this winter, with Simon Bird of the Daily Mirror reporting “Benitez reckons he needs £20m to buy a new striker, No10 and left back, with goalkeeping options also being looked at.”

However, Benitez is still waiting on those funds while the ownership of the club remains uncertain, according to Matthew Treadwell for Sky Sports. A possible takeover by Amanda Staveley has still not come to fruition, leaving Benitez in limbo when it comes to planning a much-needed recruitment drive.

Whether it’s Staveley or Mike Ashley calling the shots, Newcastle’s ownership has to act fast. The talent must match the manager at St. James’ Park in 2018.
