Each NFL team’s Olympic candidate

With the Winter Olympics right around the corner, it’s fitting to see who would be each NFL team’s candidate if they were chosen to represent the USA.

The National Football League is full of amazing athletes. Any position you want to talk about has them, whether you’re looking at quarterbacks, defensive ends or wide receivers. So with the United States about to embark on another Olympiad, which NFL stars of today could complete in the Winter Olympics and help out?

32. Arizona Cardinals: Patrick Peterson, Short track speed skating.

The Cardinals don’t have much to cheer about this season but they’d have plenty to be happy about if All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson was their Olympic candidate. It was a toss-up between him and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald but Peterson edges him out just barely in this pick.

Peterson is about as athletic as they come. The seven-year veteran has now been selected to seven-straight Pro Bowls and deservedly so. Along with all of the young talent in the secondary in the NFL, Peterson continues to be a standout cornerback year in and year out. Against the best receivers like Odell Beckham Jr. and Julio Jones, Peterson is the player you feel most comfortable with. He can lock down a receiver on the line of scrimmage and keep up with them stride for stride. Not to mention, he’s been a dual threat with his return ability. A bad day on special teams could result in Peterson going the other way for a touchdown.

Put Peterson with some skates and he’s one of the fastest out on the ice. Would I be shocked to see him come away with a medal? Absolutely not and Cardinals fans could attest to that. Peterson is a special talent that’s been underrated due to the team’s struggles in recent years.
