2018 NBA Mock Draft: Collin Sexton could break open the New York Knicks’ ceiling
Brown returned to form as a scorer this week in matchups against UCLA and USC, scoring a combined 29 points to go along with 10 assists. The Clippers will need him on the next version of their team, as they eventually bid farewell to veterans Lou Williams and Patrick Beverley.
He is the best combination of scoring and play-making on the wing that this draft has to offer outside the the lottery. Los Angeles needs that kind of dynamic offense as Blake Griffin ages and becomes more of a perimeter threat. Brown can do better than 31 percent from long-range this year, and he should get better as he learns the limitations of his game in the NBA.
Few guys, though, can offer the physical advantages combined with skill that Brown can. His 2.5 steal percentage is toward the top of the NCAA for players his size, and he has helped lead a revamped Ducks squad to a better-than-expected record.
He’s more of a gamble than Los Angeles usually takes in the draft (see: Johnson, Brice), but it could pay off really well.
