2018 NBA Mock Draft: Collin Sexton could break open the New York Knicks’ ceiling
Charlotte needs athleticism, regardless of whether or not they trade Kemba Walker, who has become the subject of trade chatter over the last week. In Carter, they’d find it.
I went back and watched Duke’s comeback victory over Miami last Monday, and Carter dominated the beginning of that game. He ended the game with 15 points on 11 shots, in addition to 14 rebounds and four blocks. No player in the country harnesses his athleticism to help their team more than Carter, who always seems to make big plays in desperate situations.
Early on against the Hurricanes, Carter went to work in the post for quick, over-powering layups that gave Duke an early lead. In rhythm at that point, Carter expanded outward and attempted two quick, open 3s. He missed both, but has been coming back to the 3 over the last couple weeks, a positive sign for his development.
The freshman is already comfortable playing next to another combo big man in Marvin Bagley, and he times his block attempts excellently. Most of his four blocks last Monday came right at the rim against smaller players who had no chance.
A front line of Carter and Cody Zeller could be solid really soon for the Hornets.
