Premier League matchweek 25: 5 most embarrassing performances

Chelsea backline embarrasses itself (once again)
The reigning champions continued their run of inconsistent play with a miserable home performance against Bournemouth. This is a tale of “how far the mighty have fallen,” as the once rock solid Chelsea defense, a three man backline helped by the prompt defensive efforts of their two wing-backs and one of their center/defensive midfielders, has repeatedly been out of sync this season.
The main culprit of this shambolic performance was Gary Cahill, who was supposedly targeted as the weakest link in Chelsea’s defensive chain as part of the Cherries pregame preparation.
This is not the first time this season that Chelsea dropped valuable points at home in embarrassing fashion. They were down 0-3 to Burnley in the first game of the season and ended up losing 2-3. This loss is far worse as there was no comeback attempt to speak of and it leaves Antonio Conte’s team in fourth place, only two points above on a surging Tottenham team.
If Chelsea were to miss out on Champions League qualification, this embarrassing loss will be the first place they should point to as a huge missed opportunity.
