Justin Timberlake to perform with Prince hologram during Super Bowl

Justin Timberlake is making his return to the Super Bowl halftime show. This time, Prince may make an appearance.
Justin Timberlake is making his return to the Super Bowl stage this Sunday. Last time he played, at the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show, he performed with Janet Jackson. Everyone remembers that performance because of an infamous wardrobe malfunction.
This Sunday, Timberlake won’t have Janet Jackson on stage with him. Instead, according to TMZ, his performance will feature a hologram of the late, great Prince, a native of Minnesota, where Super Bowl LII will be held. It’s unclear what role the hologram will play in the performance. The TMZ report said simply it will “honor” Prince.
Prince performed during the Super Bowl halftime show in 2007. It was considered one of the best Super Bowl halftime shows of all time, a performance capped off by a stunning rendition of perhaps his biggest hit, “Purple Rain.”
Prince, who passed away in 2016, is an icon in his native Minnesota. The Vikings, who lost the NFC championship game to the Eagles this year, paid tribute to the musician after his death, with a special halftime performance of “Purple Rain.”

Holograms have been used in recent years to bring deceased performers to life on the stage again. In Las Vegas, you can still catch Michael Jackson moonwalking across the stage and singing his greatest hits. Timberlake is being given a chance to redeem himself during Super Bowl LII. If Prince makes an appearance in hologram form, it’s sure to be memorable.
