The 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic games are in full swing and the ladies are ready to throw down in the women’s Halfpipe Finals.

Snowboarding has been one of the sports at the forefront of the Winter Olympics since its first appearance back in 1998 at the Nagano Olympics. Since then, both the men and the women have pushed the limits of gravity to soar high above the halfpipe. In the short history of women’s snowboarding, the U.S team has been a staple at the top of the podium.

Boarders such as Kelly Clark, Arielle Gold, and Chloe Kim will be ready to uphold the honored tradition of United States dominance in the halfpipe finals. Winning gold in three of the last four years, the United States team is looking to hold off top Chinese snowboarder Cai Xuetong and make it back to back gold medals for the U.S.

Kelly Clark will be making her fifth Olympic Games appearance, but she will have her skills tested by an up and coming star in the sport, Chloe Kim. Kim is just 17 years old and is quickly rising as the favorite to win the halfpipe event.

Kim took home gold at the 2018 X-Games in the Superpipe event, beating out her fellow Olympic teammates Gold, Mastro, and Clark.
