Iris West will become a full-on superhero in an upcoming episode of The Flash
Iris West has become an indispensable part of Team Flash. She can’t run super fast, freeze foes, create portals or stretch, but her leadership skills are undeniable and have saved her superhero husband and friends on various occasions.
Still, Iris has to be a little envious that she doesn’t have any powers. Would she be an even better superhero than her husband if she did?
We will get to find out pretty soon, as on an upcoming episode of the hit CW superhero show The Flash, Iris will be given Barry Allen’s powers. Here’s a synopsis of the episode, titled “Run, Iris, Run”:
Run, Iris, Run”— IRIS SUITS UP — Team Flash confronts a new bus meta, Matthew AKA Melting Pot (guest star Leonardo Nam), with the ability to swap people’s DNA. During a battle with Team Flash, Harold transfers Barry’s (Grant Gustin) super speed to Iris (Candice Patton). Now, with a new threat unleashed on Central City, Barry must act as the team leader while Iris takes on the mantle of superhero speedster in order to defeat their new foe.
There isn’t any indication how long this predicament lasts. It could just be one episode, but it would certainly be interesting to see it stretched out for a few episodes. It could even be a tease for the future, as in the comics, Iris West at one point had a Speed Force suit that allowed her to run at super-speed.
That’s something that could certainly come into play later, though honestly, if Iris were to gain powers, I’d rather she have something besides super speed to vary it up a little. The “Run, Iris, Run” episode of The Flash airs March 13 on The CW.
