C. Texas A&M. Robert Williams. 14. player. 118.

This Texas A&M season is one of the more unexplainable performances in the NCAA this year, and Williams’ slump this week is just one more reason why.

Williams has scored eight points on 3-9 shooting over his past two games, responding miserably to a stretch that saw an exciting return to form for him and the team. Last I watched, Williams re-discovered a fun chemistry with Tyler Davis and destroyed the offensive glass against Arkansas.

This week against Vanderbilt and Georgia, two of the worst teams in the SEC, Williams has been miserable despite victories for his team. It’s a really worrisome sign for teams that questioned his energy early in the season as he struggled through a similar stretch before conference play began.

Williams needs to play with energy and aggressiveness to be effective — his secondary skills are not there. He cannot pick apart a defense from the post or a shoot from deep, as evidenced by an 0-12 mark from deep this season. Williams needs to crash the glass and make an impact on defense, two things he did not do this week.
