77. . PG. Alabama. Collin Sexton. 11. player

The point guard spot for the Clippers is very much up in the air long-term, despite the three talented players currently occupying it.

Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Milos Teodosic, Austin Rivers and Jawun Evans are shockingly ALL under contract for next season. But there is no reason in the world that Los Angeles should keep all five and make a run for the seven seed once again next season. I understand there is pressure from the organization for Doc Rivers and Lawrence Frank to put a competitive team on the court even as the organization tries to re-haul itself, but come on.

Williams is on a very reasonable deal that could move in a trade easily. The same is true for Teodosic and Beverley. Rivers, a benefactor of 2016 free agency, is going to stay in town until another coach replaces his father thanks to an ugly contract and, well, nepotism. Evans could easily be moved or cut to free up cap or roster space.

That means Sexton, who will be cheaper and offer a higher ceiling than any of those players, could make sense. I don’t know when the Clippers plan to acquire the talented young player who will lead the next great version of their team, but they need to spend wisely with their two picks this season. Sexton has the upside to become a top player on a good team.
