Kyle Williams remains a solid player at an advanced age, and here are the best fits for him in free agency.

Kyle Williams was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round of the 2006 draft, and he has spent his entire career there. That also means he played in his first playoff game just last year, and the five-time Pro Bowler was thought to be contemplating retirement after that loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

But more recently the Bills general manager Brandon Beane said he thought Williams is indeed planning to play in 2018. He’ll be a free agent entering his age-35 season, with years of punishment as an interior defensive lineman, but Williams had 41 total tackles and three sacks last season over 801 snaps of average work according to Pro Football Focus’ grades.

Best Fits

1. Buffalo Bills

Assuming Williams does want to keep playing, it’s hard to see him leaving the Bills. The team also needs all the help it can get along the defensive line, coming off a season as the 29th-ranked run defense in the league.

Williams has started 162 of his 167 career games, so that’s a role he’s accustomed to. He’s probably better used as a depth piece with reduced snaps at this stage of his career, but the Bills will presumably be at the front of the line to sign Williams.

2. New York Jets

Staying in the AFC East, the Jets had the 24th-ranked run defense in the league last season and they now have a greater need along the defensive line after cutting Muhammad Wilkerson. Williams could serve as a nose tackle in a 3-4, as he has done earlier in his career.

3. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts need all kinds of help defensively, starting with the 26th-ranked unit against the run last year. They have plenty of cap space to get into the top of the defensive line market (Sheldon Richardson, etc.), but Williams would be a nice complementary piece to add some needed depth.
