Barcelona beat Chelsea 3-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday, March 14. Here are all the highlights from the match.

Barcelona made it through to the quarterfinals of the Champions League at the Camp Nou on Wednesday with a comprehensive 3-0 win against Chelsea. As always, Lionel Messi was the star, scoring twice and adding an assist.

The tie was delicately poised following a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in the first leg, but Messi put Barca firmly in control in only the third minute, drilling through Thibaut Courtois’ legs from a tight angle.

Chelsea responded well, keeping the ball for extended periods in Barca’s defensive third, but were undone by a rapid counter-attack in the 20th minute, when Messi took the ball from Cesc Fabregas and beat to players before setting up Ousmane Dembele for the finish.

Again, the Blues responded impressively and had the better of the play throughout the opening stages of the second half. They were denied by a well drilled Barcelona rearguard, however, highlighted by some excellent blocks by Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti.

Messi finally put the tie to bed in the 63rd minute, receiving Luis Suarez’s pass, taking two decisive touches into the Chelsea box and, once again, drilling the ball through Courtois’ legs, this time from the opposite side.

This match was more even than the scoreline might suggest, but the best player on the pitch made Antonio Conte’s side suffer for some sloppy errors in their own defensive third, just as he did in the first leg.
