Tiger Woods ends the first round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational in sole possession of first place.

One week after contending for his first PGA Tour win in years, Tiger Woods is back in the mix at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. At the end of his first 18 holes, Tiger walked off the course in sole possession of first place with a 4-under score.

Woods started at No. 10, and in the back nine had three birdies. On hole No. 3, Woods scored a double bogey to drop to -1, but rallied for three birdies on the next four holes to get back to 4-under.

Woods final birdie of the day came on No. 7 and was the most impressive, sinking the putt from 71 feet out.

After Woods was done playing, other golfers tied his mark and even surpassed it. Jimmy Walker end at -5 in first place, while Patrick Reed and Byeong Hun An ended tied with Tiger Woods at fourth place.

But it looks like Woods’ comeback last weekend wasn’t a fluke and his comeback tour might have legs. With The Masters right around the corner, many golf fans are wondering if Woods will legitimately contend in the first Major of the year. Woods has even been labeled the favorite to win The Masters since 2005, and his last Major win was the U.S. Open in 2008.

ROUND 2 TEE TIME

Woods will begin the second round of the tournament on the front nine. He will be paired up with Jason Day and Hideki Matsuyama, and the trio is scheduled to tee off at 1:08 p.m. ET.

Woods is in the last quarter of golfers to tee off on Friday, putting him in a position to be cognizant of the cut line, but if Woods continues to play like this he will be more focused on the top of the leader board.
