27. Ottawa Senators (+3)

The Ottawa Senators have been in the news a lot this season for several reasons both on and off the ice. This is setting them up to be one of the most intriguing teams this offseason. Most important will the be Erik Karlsson situation. Whatever unfolds will shape the future of the Senators’ organization. If they can move Karlsson, they will get a large return that can help them for the future. If they can add the Bobby Ryan contract to that trade, they will free up cap space that could help speed up a rebuild or they could simply resign Karlsson and continue their current path of being a middle of the road team.

Before Ottawa can get to its busy offseason, there is still business to take care of in the regular season. The Senators had a very strong week. They swept the Florida teams, beating the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning on back to back nights. The Senators then set their sights on the Dallas Stars and beat them in overtime. All good things must come to an end, including the Senators’ three-game winning streak. They lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets Saturday. The good news is next week being another opportunity to string some wins together. They have a rematch with the Florida Panthers then play the struggling Edmonton Oilers and the slumping Carolina Hurricanes.
