24. Detroit Red Wings (-1)

The Detriot Red Wings’ entire season could be labeled as “lost in transition.” Detroit needs to tear it down and start from scratch. The Red Wings will also be in the market for a new general manager this offseason. There will be a handful of other teams on the general manager market, and Detroit is not a very appealing job. Being an Original Six franchise will always draw some interest, but the existing pieces in Detroit are not the greatest and the salary cap situation is far from ideal.

A name to watch for is Kyle Dubas. The future of Toronto’s front office is not clear with Lou Lamoriello in control. Dubas may carry the torch next season for the Leafs, but if he gets passed over he may look somewhere else. An under-the-radar name to watch is Steve Yzerman. It might seem hard to picture him leaving Tampa Bay after what he has built, but if they win the cup this year he may want to head to Detroit to rebuild his former team where he was captain for 19 seasons.

The Red Wings went winless last week, dropping games four straight to the San Jose Sharks, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks and Colorado Avalanche. The four losses from last week push the Red Wings to a 10-game losing streak dating back to the end of February. The Red Wings will return home this week looking to beat the Philadelphia Flyers or Washington Capitals before hitting the road to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs in an attempt to end their losing streak.
