Former NFL lineman Geoff Schwartz had some fun with Denver Broncos fans on Twitter, who became quite upset over Patrick Mahomes and his talent.

The Denver Broncos have seemingly had a franchise quarterback at the helm since 1983. That year, Denver fleeced the Baltimore Colts for John Elway, who led the team to five Super Bowls and a pair of championships before retiring after the 1998 season. In the following years, the Broncos had competent play from Jake Plummer and Jay Cutler before landing Peyton Manning, and another Super Bowl ring.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs hadn’t had a franchise quarterback since Len Dawson retired in 1975. The team is still waiting for its first Super Bowl appearance since 1969, giving Broncos’ fans reason to laugh at Chiefs Kingdom.

However; recent decisions at quarterback have changed the direction of the laughter. After Elway selected Paxton Lynch in 2016 and watched him turn into a gigantic bust, the Chiefs landed Patrick Mahomes a year later. Mahomes started in Week 17 against Denver and played terrific ball, throwing for 283 yards and leading Kansas City to a 27-24 win.

In that vein, former NFL offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz was tweeting about Josh Allen, and the apparent interest from the Cleveland Browns. Schwartz mentioned that the Browns are likely hoping Allen turns into Mahomes, and that set off a litany of angered responses from the Broncos’ faithful.

Here’s a fun sample of Denver fans being irate about the Chiefs finally having the sport’s most important situation figured out, while the Broncos are in flux.

Schwartz isn’t wrong. The Chiefs are so confident in Mahomes that they traded away Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins following a Pro Bowl season. Kansas City general manager Brett Veach also talked about Mahomes this offseason, stating that the youngster is one of the best players he’s ever seen.

Kansas City is trying to win the AFC West title for the third consecutive year, while Denver is hoping to climb out of the basement.
