Chicago White Sox: Trade Jamie Shields to the Milwaukee Brewers
While he may no longer be considered “Big Game James,” Jamie Shields is still a pitcher you can be confident sending out to the hill every fifth day. He has the ability to get guys out in big spots, and brings with him a championship caliber pedigree.
What stinks for Shields is he currently plays for the White Sox, so he is not going to be in many big games. If the White Sox were smart, they would send him packing, as they could get a nice haul from the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Brewers look to be a team that is going to challenge for at least a Wild Card spot this season, and Shields is an arm they could stick in the middle of their rotation. He may not have the greatest stuff anymore, but he can definitely win you a ball game, or end a losing streak.
Milwaukee did a lot to bolster their lineup this offseason, but the rotation needs help. For the White Sox, in this kind of season, it is best to trade away your best veterans to get yourself some young talent.
Shields can help the Brewers in the long run, and his best case scenario would be getting out of Chicago in a hurry.
