Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig teaches his son how to bat flip just like daddy in new Instagram post.

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig hasn’t always been noticed for his softer side but there’s no way you can’t swoon a little bit at these photos he shared of him and his son playing on the field this week.

Puig posted a collection of photos taken of him with his son Diego Alejandro hitting balls, playing catch and the last frame even shows Puig teaching his young son how to do his trademark bat flip.

Puig became an overnight sensation when he defected from his home country of Cuba in 2012 and signed a $42 million contract with the Dodgers. He made his MLB debut in 2013 and hit .319 in 104 games with 19 home runs in his first season with the team.

There was some concern about Puig’s behavior when he began appearing to practices late (or not at all), and he was even suspended following an incident where he made an obscene gesture toward fans after hitting a home run. He has also had multiple arrests for reckless driving.

Puig was part of the World Series-bound Dodgers team in 2017 and performed stellar in the postseason, hitting .455 in the NLDS and .389 in the NLCS, though he wasn’t as lucky in the World Series itself. Puig had only four hits in 27 at-bats, and the Dodgers lost the series in Game 7 to the Houston Astros.

So far this season, the team has performed at less than ideal standards, falling to third place in the National League West (11-11), and Puig’s batting average is sitting at .205 for the season.

Puig has two sons, Diego and Daniel, with his girlfriend Andrea.

The Dodgers finish their series with the Miami Marlins on Wednesday and will go on to face the division rival San Francisco Giants next.
