Penn State welcomes the Kent State Golden Flashes to Happy Valley for a Saturday afternoon game in Week 3.

The Penn State Nittany Lions are off to a 2-0 start and climbing towards the top ten in the polls. After a Week 1 game against Appalachian State that was admittedly closer than it should have been, the team bounced back and destroyed in-state rival Pittsburgh.

A slow start to the season is not going to derail James Franklin and company. Appalachian State is not a cake-walk and has given every FCS team they’ve faced a bit of trouble. That is what makes last week’s 51-6 win over Pittsburgh that much more impressive. Penn State won in every facet of the game but their run game was the highlight.

After losing a player of Saquon Barkley’s caliber, some thought the offense would revolve around Heisman hopeful Trace McSorley. Instead, it has been the Lions rushing attack leading the way, topping 200 yards in both contests.

Defensively PSU will look to slow down a Kent State team that showed some offensive potential against fellow-Big 10 opponent Illinois in Week 1. Good news for Nittany Lions fans is that same game saw the Illini rush for almost 300 yards. Even if McSorely struggles, Penn State should be fine.

How to watch and bet on Penn State – Kent State

Date: Saturday, Sep. 15
Start Time: 12 p.m. ET
Location: University Park, PA
Venue: Beaver Stadium
TV Info: FS1 I Fubo TV
Odds: Penn State -35

This is going to be a tune-up game for Penn State. Their upcoming schedule features Illinois, then back-to-back games against ranked Big Ten schools Ohio State and Michigan State. The Nittany Lions will need their passing game to get going in the next two weeks before those tough tests.

Vegas clearly thinks they will be able to get it done, spotting Penn State 35 points against Kent State. Pittsburgh may not be a powerhouse but they are a better team than Kent State and Penn State put up 51 against them. This should be even more easy sledding for the Lions.

Prediction: Penn State covers the spread.
