It’s okay to admit to yourself that the new Penguins alternates are straight fire

The new Penguins third uniforms are straight fire, and don’t believe anything different.

It looked as if the Pittsburgh Penguins would announce their third jersey before the season but that announcement came earlier this morning. Before the Penguins hit the ice for practice, the world got a look at the team’s new alternate uniforms.

Some people (mostly Capitals fans) weren’t big fans of the look. They are, however, absolutely what stitching fire together would look like.

The jersey has some of the design from the 2017 Stadium Series jersey that the Penguins wore against the Philadelphia Flyers and some of the design from their sweater in the 80s. It may not be the diagonal Pittsburgh that was worn famously by Snoop Dog or the old pigeon jersey that was worn in the 90s but this is still a very good jersey.

It keeps the Black and Gold tradition going in Pittsburgh for all their teams. Believe it or not, some people wanted to bring a blue alternate jersey back for the Penguins that they wore earlier in the decade. It just doesn’t go with the city. All three sports teams in Pittsburgh wear black and gold and this jersey had to be no different.

How could we forget about the gold helmet too? This may be unpopular to some but it’s pretty sweet and goes along with the jersey very nicely.

There have been some complaints that the jersey looks just like the stadium series jersey they wore last year but there’s a lot of differences that make this jersey look many ways better. The sleeves look different, the collar is a solid black, and there’s no big patch on the sleeve like there was on the stadium series jersey.

The Penguins will wear these jerseys 12 times during the season, all of them at PPG Paints Arena. The first game they will wear them on will be November 15th against the Tampa Bay Lightning. That’s also the day they will go on sale for the first time.

This won’t be the last jersey the Penguins announce this season as they aren’t going to be wearing these jerseys against the Flyers next February for their stadium series game in Philadelphia.
