Fantasy Football 2018: 10 RB sleepers to target for Week 7
Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This is a risky play, because Hue Jackson, Todd Haley, and the rest of the Cleveland Browns garbage coaching staff clearly hasn’t figured out how to maximize the talent in the team’s backfield. After lucking into drafting Nick Chubb, the best running back in this draft class behind Saquon Barkley, in the second round, the Browns have proceeded to give him just 16 rushing attempts through six weeks.
Chubb has done nothing put impress with those touches, averaging an astounding 10.8 yards per attempt. But it’s unclear if his yards per carry average is as astounding as the fact that the Browns haven’t taken notice of his prodigious talent.
The former Georgia star has outshined Carlos Hyde this season, and while Hyde, an Ohio State product, is a capable starter in this league, he might not even be half as talented as Chubb. Hyde hasn’t taken the reigns at any point in his career, and there’s a reason why Chubb was considered a “steal” with the 35th overall pick.
While the Browns run defense is a favorable matchup for Peyton Barber of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it’s not like the Bucs have been great at defending running backs in fantasy football. The Bucs, per Pro-Football Reference, allow 22.5 fantasy points per game to opposing backs, making Chubb a possible breakout option.
Cleveland’s passing attack is reeling due to several major injuries at the wide receiver position, whereas the rushing attack is this team’s strength. The best way to take pressure off of Baker Mayfield, who is doing everything he can to make struggling wideouts Jarvis Landry and Antonio Callaway serviceable in this offense, is to rely on a different rookie in Chubb.
