AEK face Bayern Munich at Athens Olympic Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
After two games, Bayern Munich are tied with Ajax in Group E with four points. AEK Athens are last in the group, losing both of their games. On Tuesday, Bayern and AEK play their first of back to back games in the group stage in Athens.
AEK are second in the Greek Super League with 16 points in seven games. However, the club has been overmatched in the Champions League. In their first game, AEK lost 3-0 to Ajax but fair better in their second game, ultimately falling short, losing 3-2 to Benfica. Viktor Klonaridis scored both of AEK’s goals against Benfica and has six goals in all competitions. Ezequiel Ponce and Klonaridis will be the focus of AEK’s attack. However, the Greek side will likely try to get as many players back defensively and try parking the bus against Bayern, looking to steal a point from the German champions.
Heading into the international break, Bayern Munich were winless in four games. In their last Champions League game, Bayern settled for a disappointing 1-1 draw with Ajax at Allianz Arena. However, the club appeared to snap out of their poor form on Saturday, easily beating Wolfsburg 3-1. Robert Lewandowski scored twice for Bayern, giving him 10 goals in all competitions. Manager Niko Kovac decided to not play Thomas Muller, Jerome Boateng and Franck Ribery against Wolfsburg. The trio will be fresh and likely start on Tuesday against AEK.
