Fantasy Football, Week 8: High value plays for DraftKings
By Dylan Broady
Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints, $7,300
Stats: 588 receiving yards, 4 touchdowns
Michael Thomas has been everything and more for the New Orleans Saints passing game this season. Averaging a hefty 98 receiving yards and 9 targets per game. In only six games played Thomas is 10th-ranked in yards and 2nd in total receptions. With such dynamic playmakers around him such as Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram, who also are a huge part of the passing game, it’s good to see Thomas being used as a true wide receiver one by Sean Payton.
What’s unique about selecting Thomas in Week 8 for you lineups, he’s the 10th wide receiver on the list in terms of price. Maybe his upcoming matchup with the Minnesota Vikings and their 11th-ranked defense has some people looking elsewhere. Which is exactly why you should scoop him up as much as possible. The Vikings are middle of the pack when it comes to receiving yards per game allowed. Coming into Week 8 they are allowing 256 per game.
Thomas is a great high value matchup for your teams this week in daily fantasy. Not only is he cheap, but quarterback Drew Brees will have to air it out against a stout Vikings rush defense who currently rank 5th against the rush going into Sunday Night football. The NFL has done it’s due diligence this week for their primetime affair on Sunday. Even if the Vikings rank in the top five against the rush this season, the Saints have plenty of playmakers to exploit that middle of the pack secondary.
Coming into a week where alot of fantasy players will be taking the high flying offenses of the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams, due to matchups, this is the perfect opportunity for you to choose someone who not only has the potential to have a great game against any defense, but will set you apart from the rest of the pack. We all know how important that is when playing daily fantasy. Don’t hesitate, go ahead and take advantage of this opportunity in the Sunday contests to squeeze by the early birds and rise up and win some cash.
Prediction: 10 receptions, 85 receiving yards, 1 touchdown
