Mains Mavericks – Week 8 DraftKings NFL GPP Sleeper Picks
Main’s Mavericks is providing weekly Draftkings NFL DFS GPP contest advice by searching out low-salary, boom-or-bust plays destined to outperform value. As a general rule for this article, I target players below $5,000. My goal is to pick value plays who I believe can exceed 4-5 times their value (EX: $5,000 player x 4 = 20DK Pts). I will be using all of my picks in Week 8 DraftKings NFL GPP tournaments as boom-or-bust punt options. Saving on these volatile players will allow you to pay-up for superstars when building that Week 8 DraftKings NFL $1,000,000 lineup.
Highlight from Week 7 Mains Mavericks
RB Kerryon Johnson 4,500 @ MIA – 22.90 DK points (5x value)
Week 8 DraftKings NFL DFS GPP Sleeper Picks
QB:
Derek Carr 5,200 vs IND
Carr just lost his number 1 WR Amari Cooper. He also has been under scrutiny from social media for “crying” during the teams’ week 6 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. I love me a good narrative play. Carr is going to ball (pun intended) out against a Colts team that is really struggling on the defensive side of the ball. The entire Oakland offense is in shambles, that is why its a perfect time to jump on board. Keep reading, or don’t, just know my lineups will resemble Oakland’s depth chart.
RB:
Matt Breida 5,000 vs ARI
Breida is recovering from an ankle sprain, and it is uncertain whether he will be able to suit up for Sunday’s game against Arizona. If Breida is on the field he is an elite option. Arizona has given up the 2nd most DK points to RBs this year. CJ Beatherd targets running backs almost as much as he targets WRs. Brieda is one of the most explosive options on the 49ers roster. If he can stay on the field, he can turn touches into touchdowns. Love this play, and his ownership will be down due to the questionable tag.

Ronald Jones III 3,700 vs CLE
Reports are that Jones is getting the majority of the first team reps this week in practice. The rookie’s touches have not been impressive so far this year, but he put together a solid game last week. Jones had 28 yards and a touchdown on 7 touches. If Peyton Barber sits, RJ3 is a definite start. The Bengals defense really struggles against the run, and the secondary will have its hands full against the Jameis and the high-powered TB receiving core.
WR:
Jordy Nelson 4,700 and Martavis Bryant 3,700 vs IND
What is up Oakland stack! Here is my two-for-one play of the week. Pair these cast-aways in your week 8 lineup and you will not be sorry. Pair them will Derek Carr and the only other lineups that may beat yours will be my lineups. The ownership will be low. The upside is tremendous. If the IND-OAK over hits, we will be printing money. With these savings you can just about add any player to this stack (I like any player from the NO-MIN revenge game personally). If you are a masochist, you can add Doug Martin or Jalen Richard and make it a true Gruden’s grinders stack. See you atop the leader-board you sick SOBs.
TE:
CJ Uzomah 3,500 vs TB
Uzomah has seen his snaps and targets steadily increase with the injuries sidelining Tyler Croft and Tyler Eifert (IR). TB has the worst secondary in the league. Uzomah is averaging over 10 DK points a game since being thrust into the starting role. I will continue to be heavily overweight on Uzomah until the price finally catches up.
