T.J. Yeldon, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts

Fantasy football owners should also consider Carlos Hyde this week with Leonard Fournette suspended, but the must-own Jacksonville Jaguars running back right now is T.J. Yeldon, who has always been Fournette’s main handcuff.

Owning Yeldon paid dividends for fantasy owners earlier this season when Fournette was out for several weeks with a nagging hamstring injury, and the former Alabama star mostly stood out in the passing game, where he’s turned into an effective safety valve option for whichever subpar Jaguars quarterback happens to be under center.

The Jaguars rode Fournette’s powerful legs in Week 12 before the incident in which he punched Shaq Lawson, and they’ll have to do the same in Week 13 against a tough Indianapolis Colts team that suddenly looks like a playoff darkhorse under Frank Reich.

Yeldon will get his crack at a Colts defense that allows 63.4 receiving yards per game to opposing running backs, making them nearly as woeful in that aspect as the Kansas City Chiefs. This is a perfect matchup for Yeldon, and fantasy owners would be wise to start him with Fournette out.

Note that Yeldon averages over 70 yards from scrimmage this season with four receiving touchdowns, and he has six games with over 40 receiving yards. He’s a quality play in Week 13.
