Dion Lewis, Tennessee Titans vs. New York Jets

Tennessee Titans running back Dion Lewis has been quite the up-and-down fantasy football player these past several weeks, and while his Week 12 performance against the Houston Texans was definitely in the “down” column, he did have a key silver lining in the game where he totaled 41 yards from scrimmage.

Lewis, usually an explosive weapon with jukes for days, could only muster eight rushing yards on seven carries in a wholly ineffective display on the ground. Although Lewis had just 33 receiving yards to offset that, those 33 yards came on seven receptions.

On the one hand, an average of 4.7 yards per reception is absolutely atrocious, and many running backs average more yards per carry on the season than that. On the other hand, seven catches isn’t a bad haul for a running back in a PPR league, and it bodes well for Lewis’s Week 13 outlook against the New York Jets.

While the Jets run defense is perfectly average and they are excellent at defending running backs in the passing game, Lewis could still hoard targets, even after totaling just three receptions in his dreadful Week 10 and Week 11 outings.

Lewis is in a bit of a cold snap, but he’s talented and could bounce back against the Jets defense. For fantasy owners, the most worrying aspect of Lewis’s game is his inability to score touchdowns, but in PPR leagues, Lewis is a high-upside play.
