For most fantasy football leagues we have entered the playoff season which makes finding a breakout player all the more important.

A lot of times fantasy football owners hit the waiver wire in order to add someone to their roster. However, it’s equally as important to try and keep a specific player from landing on a roster where he’s needed.

This is even more crucial when it comes to the playoffs. Nobody can afford to have a fellow playoff owner fill a major need via the waiver wire.

The difference between winning a championship or losing early in the playoffs is often small. It’s important to realize that just because you don’t need a specific player that it doesn’t necessarily mean you overlook someone on the waivers.

This week there are few intriguing breakout options. It’s that time of the NFL season where the playoff teams are starting to hit their stride. There are also those younger players who are finally starting to get comfortable within their offensive attack.

In this article there are a few home-run type additions that could help put you over the edge. However, those type of players also come with plenty of risk.

Josh Allen is one of those players that I’ve identified. It’s possible that you were able to squeak into the fantasy playoffs without a top-notch quarterback. Allen has his issues, but his running ability has giving him fantasy upside.

He’s deserves at least as much consideration that Lamar Jackson received over the past few weeks.
