Derek Carr, QB, Oakland Raiders

Quietly, Derek Carr is playing excellent football for the Oakland Raiders, as he helped lead his team to an upset win over JuJu Smith-Schuster and the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14. This came a week after keeping the Raiders in a close game against MVP Patrick Mahomes and the electric Kansas City Chiefs offense.

After completing 29 of 38 passes with three touchdowns and zero interceptions against the Chiefs, Carr was an equally crisp 25-34 with 9.5 yards per attempt, two more touchdowns, and a clean zero interceptions against Pittsburgh. His 322 passing yards were his most since a 437-yard game against the Cleveland Browns in Week 4, which was an overtime victory.

Carr was lights-out in the fourth quarter when the Raiders needed him the most, and he’s been doing the best with a relatively thin group of pass-catchers. Seth Roberts, Jordy Nelson, Jalen Richard, and Jared Cook (the best of the bunch) are Carr’s top weapons with Amari Cooper traded, but Carr has still played himself into streaming consideration.

The Raiders will face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 15, so that’s a favorable matchup for Carr to take advantage of. Carr hasn’t thrown an interception since Week 5, and he has thrown eight touchdowns in the team’s last four games.
