Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner

Zach Zenner isn’t necessarily a trustworthy option for fantasy football owners, but there may not be a choice for some in Week 16. The Detroit Lions running back has quietly outperformed LeGarrette Blount, and with Kerryon Johnson struggling with an injury, Zenner could lead the Lions backfield in touches again this week.

More importantly, Zenner is offering fantasy value as a touchdown scorer, as he’s put the ball in the end zone on the ground in each of this past two games since becoming a heavily-used part of the Lions offense.

In Week 16, the Lions will face the Minnesota Vikings, and while this will likely be a tough matchup for Zenner, we’ve seen other running backs, specifically Kalen Ballage in Week 15, handle this Vikings run defense.

Zenner could build a touchdown streak by scoring for a third straight game, and he’s a decent fantasy option, even if he’s an uninspiring one and has a negative track record. The “buyer beware” tag is here with Zenner, but he has scored at least 10 fantasy points in each of his past two games. Plus, Zenner is averaging 4.9 yards per carry on the 2018 season, so he’s been an efficient option whenever the Lions have dialed up plays for him.
