One thing that is certain about the failed three team trade that fell apart last Friday night: somebody isn’t telling the truth. When Adrian Wojnarowkski tweeted that the Suns were sending Trevor Ariza to the Wizards, Kelly Oubre was headed to the Grizzlies and in exchange Dillon Brooks and Austin Rivers were on their way to the Suns, local reporters quickly followed up to confirm the story. What they found was an alleged case of mistaken identity mixed up with some front office negligence.

So which team should bear the brunt of the blame? And with conflicting reports about who talked to whom, what should we believe?

To help figure that out, Chris Herrington (@HerringtonNBA) joins the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast. Chris covers the Grizzlies for the Daily Memphian and was able to independently verify from a team source that Dillon Brooks, in fact, was NOT being traded despite reports to the contrary. So how does he think the mix-up occurred? What did he see on Friday night at the FedExForum that convinced him it wasn’t the Grizzlies at fault for the blown deal?

In addition to discussing the trade that wasn’t, we also address the recent struggles on the court for Memphis, their peculiar streak of unique second quarter line-ups, and rookie Jevon Carter’s belated but impressive debut.
