Players costing $6,250 or under

Rudy Gay (vs DEN – $5,900): Needs 27.4 fantasy points. Gay had 31 fantasy points against the Rockets on Dec. 22. His salary has dropped a bit, which is good news coming into this game. The Spurs are going to need all they can get against the Nuggets and Gay is someone who can step up with his scoring and rebounding. I expect him to step up in this game. Diagnosis: Fairly reliable and a high ceiling.

Justise Winslow (vs TOR – $5,500): Needs 25.3 fantasy points. Winslow was up to 45.5 fantasy points against the Magic on Dec. 23. The minutes are there and with the Heat needing playmakers, Winslow has stepped up in a big way. He’s also shooting the ball very well and coming up with rebounds and steals. He’s playing at a high level right now and I expect it to continue. Diagnosis: Reliable.

Justin Holiday (vs MIN – $5,300): Needs 24.2 fantasy points. Holiday has settled into a nice salary given his production. The matchup is good as I’m not totally sold on the Timberwolves and I continue to like Holiday’s overall game. He’ll do enough with his scoring and defense to make him worth your while. Diagnosis: Good ceiling and reliable against this matchup.
