High Value C

Players costing $6,250 or under

Al Horford (at HOU – $5,600): Needs 26.3 fantasy points. Horford typically gets the minutes, but this isn’t a great matchup for him and I always worry about his fantasy value just because he doesn’t do one thing exceptionally well. Still, the minutes are there and he typically gets the shots to produce. I don’t have a great feeling about him and think the salary is a tad too high, but if you want to live a bit on the edge, Horford is available. Diagnosis: An option with a good ceiling.

Ivica Zubac (at SAC – $5,400): Needs 25.5 fantasy points. It’s probably just time to crown Zubac as the best center in the league. Until he shows signs of slowing down, I’d keep taking him. McGee remains out and Zubac has proven himself by now. The Kings are on a back-to-back, which doesn’t help their case. Maybe he drops off at some point. In fact, it’s likely to happen soon. But I won’t believe it until I see it. Diagnosis: High ceiling and red hot. Good matchup as well.

Brook Lopez (vs NY – $4,900): Needs 23.1 fantasy points. Lopez had 29 fantasy points against the Knicks on Christmas. The scoring should not be an issue for him because it’s never an issue for anyone against the Knicks. His rebounding numbers are down this year, but he’s at a good enough salary to where his scoring is enough to at least get you value. The ceiling is relatively high if he’s really hot. Diagnosis: Reliable with a decent ceiling.
