Looks like the Dolphins are bringing in a whole new attitude to the organization in Dallas Cowboys defensive backs coach Kris Richard.

The Miami Dolphins search for head coach appears to be coming to an end shortly. According to Sirius XM NFL host, Alex Marvez, the Dolphins are locked in on hiring Kris Richard at the end of the Dallas Cowboys postseason run.

The Dolphins surprised some with their dismissal of former head coach, Adam Gase, but a change of attitude was needed in their locker room. Richard might bring that adjustment Miami needs.

Richard played in the NFL for seven seasons after the Seattle Seahawks made him their third round selection in 2002. After a journeymen career, Richard entered the coaching ranks as a graduate assistant at his Alma Mater, University of Southern California.

He returned to the NFL as assistant defensive backs coach for the Seahawks under Pete Carroll’s new staff. Richard spent his entire coaching career on the Seahawks getting promoted upon each departure to the point of even becoming the team’s defensive coordinator in 2015.

Richard left the Seahawks after the 2017 season to become the defensive backs coach/passing game coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys. He’s a huge key to the young Cowboys secondary’s stellar performance in 2018.

Byron Jones has been a huge benefactor of Richard’s arrival in Dallas. The former first round pick had enjoyed success at safety, but converting back to cornerback under Richard has rewarded him with the best season of his career, earning Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors.

“When he talks to you and you listen to his words, you understand this guy is going to be destined for greatness,” Cowboys’ Byron Jones said.

The Cowboys fully acknowledge the impact Richard and his coaching style has brought to the team as they prepare to face the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round of the playoffs this Saturday. They could be seeing the last of Richard on their sideline as well.
